OneTab alternatives
If you live with dozens of open tabs, there are many ways to tame them. We compare OneTab with its best alternatives, including the ones built into Chrome.
OneTab is the classic extension for tab hoarders: one click turns them all into a list and frees up memory. It's still very popular, but it's not the only option.
We compared six alternatives, using Chrome Web Store data, depending on what you need: saving sessions, organizing projects or opening the pages you use every day in one go.
What OneTab does
- Turns your open tabs into a list in one click, and you restore them one by one or all at once.
- Saves memory: its website mentions up to 95% less memory when closing tabs.
- Works on Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, with no sign-up.
- You can share a list as a web page, if you want.
- It's very popular: around 2 million users on the Chrome Web Store.

What Chrome already offers
Before installing anything, try two Chrome features. Tab groups let you group, color and close several tabs together; when you close a group it's saved so you can reopen it, and it syncs with your Google account.
Memory Saver (in Settings, Performance) puts tabs you're not using to sleep and reloads them when you go back. For many people, that's enough to make OneTab unnecessary.
Link groups in NexoPad
NexoPad doesn't automatically save your open tabs the way OneTab does. It does something else that's very useful: it lets you create link groups, for example "Start of the day" with your email, calendar and chat, and open them all at once in one click, already grouped as a Chrome tab group.
That way you don't need to keep those tabs open all the time: open them when you start work and close them when you're done. And your links live next to your notes and quick replies, with categories and a grid view.
