How to organize your browser bookmarks
Six steps to tidy up your bookmarks in an afternoon and keep them from turning into a mess again.
Saving a bookmark takes a second; finding it months later can take minutes. Over time, the bar and folders fill up with duplicate, broken or no-longer-needed links.
This guide helps you sort them out step by step, with the Chrome shortcuts that make it faster, and keep things tidy with little effort.
6 steps to organize your bookmarks
Clean up first
Open the bookmark manager and delete anything you haven't opened in months, duplicates and pages that no longer exist. This step brings the most order.
Create a few folders, by use
Five to eight folders are enough: for example Work, Tools, Clients, Reading and Personal. Organizing by how you use them works better than by topic.
Keep the bar for daily use
Only put what you open every day on the bookmarks bar. You can delete the name and keep just the icon so more fit.
Give them clear names
Change long titles like "Home | Account control panel - Company" to something short like "Billing dashboard". That way you'll find them by searching.
Use the Reading List for later
Things you want to read later aren't bookmarks: save them to Chrome's Reading List and remove them once read.
Review once a month
Ten minutes a month to delete what you don't need saves you from starting from scratch again.

Your work links, next to your notes
If your links are mostly for work, NexoPad lets you keep them in the popup and the side panel, organized into categories and next to your notes and quick replies. You can pin the ones you use most, find them by typing a few letters or open them with Ctrl+K from any page.
You don't have to copy them one by one to get started: from the popup's settings menu you can import your browser bookmarks. The free plan lets you save up to 20 links; Pro, up to 1,000.
