NexoPad vs Evernote Web Clipper: the alternative for saving text from websites
Evernote Web Clipper saves full pages, screenshots and PDFs. NexoPad does something simpler: it saves the piece of text you care about with a keyboard shortcut. Here's how they differ and when to pick each one.
Evernote Web Clipper is one of the best-known extensions for saving things from the web. One click sends an article, a screenshot or a PDF to your Evernote account, where you sort it into notebooks and tags.
Since Evernote cut back its free plan, many people have been looking for another way to keep what they read. If most of what you save is snippets of text (a fact, a quote, an explanation), here's how it compares with NexoPad.

How NexoPad clips
With NexoPad, you select the text you want on any page and press Alt+C. It's saved instantly as a clip, with a link to the source page so you can go back whenever you like. No menus to open, no folder to pick.
Your clips show up in the Clips tab of the side panel. When you want to work on one, open it in the Notebook: you can edit it, change its category, add a reminder or open it as a floating sticky note. And because clips are notes, you can also find them with Ctrl+K from any website.

Getting started with NexoPad
Keep a copy of your Evernote notes
Evernote lets you export your notes. NexoPad doesn't import Evernote files, so keep that copy for your older material and start fresh with new clips.
Install NexoPad and sign in
That way your clips sync across all your browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Brave.
Clip your first text
Select a paragraph on any website and press Alt+C. You'll see a confirmation and the clip will appear in the Clips tab of the side panel.
Sort what matters
Open the clips you want to keep in the Notebook and move them to the right category. If you need to come back to one later, add a reminder.
