OneNote Web Clipper alternative: save text from websites without leaving the page

OneNote Web Clipper is Microsoft's official extension for sending web pages to OneNote. If you usually save a paragraph rather than a whole page, it may be more than you need. Here's how it differs from NexoPad.

If you use OneNote, you probably know its Web Clipper: a browser button that sends a whole page, part of a page or a clean article to your notebook. It's free and used by more than a million people.

But often you don't need all that. You're reading a recipe, a tutorial or a news story and you just want to keep one paragraph. Opening a panel, picking a section and then going to OneNote to find it is a long way round. Here we compare the two approaches.

Quick answer:If you want to save full pages, screen regions, images or PDFs, and you already organize your life in OneNote, stick with OneNote Web Clipper. If what you save is almost always a piece of text and you want to do it with a shortcut without leaving the site, NexoPad is faster: select, press Alt+C and keep reading.

How NexoPad saves text

Say you're on the Acme Kitchen recipe site, reading how to make pumpkin soup in 30 minutes. You only care about the steps. With NexoPad, you select them, press Alt+C and the Saved to NexoPad notice appears. That's it: no switching tabs, no choosing where to save.

The clip is saved as a note in the ✂️ Clips folder, with the page title and its link so you can go back. You'll see it in the Clips tab of the side panel, in the popup notes (filtered by that folder) or from any website with Ctrl+K.

When you want to work with it, open it in the Notebook (Alt+Q): you can edit it, move it to another folder, pin it or search for it. You can also add a reminder or turn it into a Shortcut, so its text is typed for you when you enter the abbreviation you choose.

To be clear: NexoPad only saves text. It doesn't capture full pages or regions, it doesn't save images or PDFs, and it doesn't export your notes to files. More details in the clips guide.

Select the recipe steps and press Alt+C.

Choose NexoPad if…

You save paragraphs, facts or quotes and want to do it with a shortcut without leaving the page. And you want them close at hand in your browser, next to your notes, links and text shortcuts.
