The best WhatsApp Web extensions in 2026

Reply faster, hide your chats at the office, translate messages or turn voice notes into text. We compare seven useful extensions and flag the ones that could cost you your account.

WhatsApp Web is handy, but if you talk to customers or spend all day in it, you miss a few things: typing your usual replies quickly, translating a message, or keeping people from reading your chats over your shoulder. Browser extensions fill those gaps.

We picked seven extensions that are active in 2026, each for a different job. We're the NexoPad team, and NexoPad is on the list, but we'll also tell you what it doesn't do. And we've left out, on purpose, anything that sends bulk messages or replies on its own.

Before you install: what we don't recommend:WhatsApp's terms forbid bulk messaging and automated messages, and WhatsApp can ban the accounts that use them. That's why you won't find extensions for mass messaging or bots that reply on their own here. Watch out, because these features sometimes come inside very popular extensions: the WA Web Plus website, for example, advertises broadcast campaigns and automatic replies in its paid plans. Also, none of these extensions is made by WhatsApp, and they all read the WhatsApp Web page to work (NexoPad does too, to detect your shortcuts). Before you install one, check its permissions and its recent reviews in the store.

1. NexoPad: your replies with a shortcut (and you send the message)

NexoPad doesn't automate anything or send messages. You type a shortcut like /hello in the WhatsApp Web message box and NexoPad types the full text in its place. You read it, change it if needed and press Send, just like any other message.

If the reply includes details that change, like the customer's name, a form opens with a preview of the final message. With shortcuts per website you can make a shortcut work only on WhatsApp Web, or have the same /hello type a formal greeting in Gmail and a friendlier one in WhatsApp Web. And if you can't remember a shortcut, Ctrl+K searches your shortcuts, notes and links without leaving the chat.

Pros: the same replies work in WhatsApp Web, Gmail and any other site, on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Brave. Cons: there's no mobile app, it doesn't organize chats or transcribe voice notes, and the free plan stops at 15 shortcuts. Pro costs $7 a month or $49 a year.

You type /hello in a chat in the browser and NexoPad asks for the customer's name, with a preview of the message.

2. Privacy Extension for WhatsApp Web: no one reads your chats over your shoulder

It blurs your messages, the previews in the chat list, photos and videos, and profile pictures. To read something, you hover over it. Alt+X turns everything on or off at once.

Pros: it's free, open source and, according to its store listing, doesn't collect your data. Very useful at the office, in a coworking space or when you share your screen. Cons: when WhatsApp changes its site, it can stop working for a few days until its developer fixes it, as happened in July 2026.

3. DeepL: for chatting in other languages

The DeepL extension translates the text you select and helps you write in another language. Its Chrome Web Store listing names WhatsApp among the sites where it works. So you can read a customer's message in German and reply in their language without copying and pasting into another tab.

Pros: very good translations. Cons: the free version has a character limit, and DeepL warns that you shouldn't put personal or confidential data into it. If you translate conversations with customers, consider DeepL Pro.

4. Google Translate: the simple, free option

Google's official extension translates the text you select or right-click. If you like, it shows the translation as soon as you select a message.

Pros: free and made by Google. Cons: it only translates what you read; it doesn't write your reply in another language. And you no longer need the extension to translate a whole page, because Chrome does that on its own.

5. Kaption: voice notes as text

If people send you lots of voice notes, Kaption turns them into text inside WhatsApp Web and summarizes the long ones. It also translates messages and adds a privacy mode and reminders. In the Chrome Web Store it's listed as "Audio to Text + Translation in WhatsApp Web using ChatGPT".

Pros: it saves you from listening to long voice notes in the middle of your workday. It's free to install and has paid plans for heavy users. Cons: it can also schedule messages, even for campaigns; don't use it for that, because of WhatsApp's rules. And since it uses AI to transcribe, read its privacy policy before using it with customers' voice notes.

6. Cooby: an organized WhatsApp Web for sales teams

Cooby adds tabs to WhatsApp Web (unread, needs reply, groups and your own), notes on each chat, reminders and templates. Its team plans connect to HubSpot or Salesforce to save your conversations in your CRM.

Pros: the extension has a free plan, and it's very useful if you sell over WhatsApp and use HubSpot. Cons: its cloud plans include broadcasting to several chats at once; don't use it for bulk messaging. And if all you want is to reply faster, it's more than you need.

7. Loom: when a message isn't enough

Loom records your screen, with your camera if you want, and gives you a link to paste into the chat. It's ideal for showing a customer where a button is or how to place an order, instead of typing five messages.

Pros: very easy to use, with a free plan. Cons: it isn't a WhatsApp extension: the customer opens the video in their browser. And the free plan has a video limit.

If you run a business: start with the official features

The WhatsApp Business app already covers the basics, and it's allowed because it's made by WhatsApp: a greeting message and an away message, which are sent automatically, and up to 50 quick replies that you insert yourself. We explain how to set them up, with examples, in WhatsApp Business automatic messages.

To reply faster from your computer, see our guide to WhatsApp Web quick replies. And if you need real automation, like sending order updates to thousands of customers, the way to go is the official WhatsApp Business Platform (the API), not an extension.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use extensions on WhatsApp Web?

It can be, but they all read the WhatsApp Web page. Pick a few well-known ones, check their permissions and recent reviews, and remove the ones you don't use. Keep in mind that an extension can change owners: the original creator of WAToolkit, a widely used notifications extension, says on GitHub that the store version no longer belongs to him.

Can my account be banned for using an extension?

WhatsApp forbids bulk messaging and automated messages, and it can ban the accounts that use them. That's why we don't recommend extensions for mass messaging or bots that reply on their own. The ones on this list don't need those features for what we suggest, but none of them is an official WhatsApp product.

Does NexoPad send messages for me?

No. When you type a shortcut, NexoPad puts the text in the message box and you decide whether to send it. It doesn't schedule messages or send them to several chats.

Is there an extension to send one message to many contacts at once?

There are some, but we don't recommend them: they go against WhatsApp's terms and you risk losing your account. To message many customers, use the official WhatsApp Business Platform (the API).

Do they work on my phone?

No. They're extensions for your computer's browser. On your phone, the WhatsApp Business app has its own quick replies, greeting messages and away messages.
