NexoPad vs Typedesk: canned responses for support teams
Typedesk and NexoPad do the same job: answering customers without typing the same thing over and over. Here's where each one shines and which one fits your team better.
Typedesk is a canned responses tool built for support teams, sales and anyone who types a lot. You type / and a shortcut, and your reply appears. It has a browser extension as well as apps for Windows and Mac.
NexoPad does the same inside your browser and adds a form with a preview for the details that change, shortcuts that only work on certain websites, an importer for Zendesk or Intercom macros, notes and links. Here are the real differences, including what NexoPad doesn't do.
Quick summary
- Typedesk is a text expander for teams: replies with
/and a shortcut, a search bar withAlt+C, forms, shared folders with permissions, and AI. It works in the browser and in desktop apps for Windows and Mac. - NexoPad is a browser extension: shortcuts with a form that previews the result, per-site shortcuts, an importer for support macros, notes, links and AI with your own key.
- Where it works: Typedesk also works outside the browser, for example in your email app or in Word. NexoPad only works inside the browser, but on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Brave.
- Free plan: Typedesk gives you unlimited templates, but up to 50 uses per week and a single user. NexoPad gives you 15 shortcuts and notes, 200 uses per month and 1 browser at a time.

NexoPad's form, right inside your ticketing tool
Many support replies have gaps: the customer's name, the priority, a date. Typedesk fills them with forms too. In NexoPad, when you type the shortcut a form opens next to the field without covering the ticket, and you see the final text as you fill it in.
Short lists show up as buttons you can pick with keys 1 to 4, dates come with a calendar, and the last values you typed appear under each field. If you're about to insert with a gap still empty, NexoPad warns you. All the options are in the variables guide.
What NexoPad adds for a support team
Per-site shortcuts. A shortcut can work on every website, only on some (for example, only in Zendesk) or on all but a few. That way the same /greeting can be formal in your ticketing tool and friendlier in chat. How to set it up.
Import your macros. In the web dashboard, My account → Backup → Import from another app brings in your Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk or Gorgias macros and your Text Blaze or TextExpander shortcuts, among 15 sources (CSV included). You see a preview before saving. If you're coming from your help desk's macros, this Zendesk and Intercom guide will help.
An organized team. With NexoPad Teams, your team shares a vault of replies organized by departments, with roles and approvals. It costs $12 per user per month, for 3 to 25 users.
Notes and links at hand. Keep notes about customers and the links you use every day, like your admin panel or knowledge base, in the same extension. You'll find ideas in notes for customer support.
AI with your own key. Rewrite, summarize or translate a reply with your AI provider's key: there are 11 to choose from and 5 have a free option.
When to choose each
Choose Typedesk if…
Your team also replies from desktop programs (email, Word or internal apps), you're interested in its paid AI features, or you need single sign-on (SSO) and an account manager on its Enterprise plan.
Choose NexoPad if…
Your team works in the browser (Zendesk, Intercom, Gmail…) and you want a form with a preview, different shortcuts per site, to import your macros yourself, or notes and links in the same extension. Also if you use Edge or Opera, which Typedesk doesn't mention on its website.
How to move your replies from Typedesk to NexoPad
Install NexoPad and sign in
Install it from your browser's store. Once you sign in, your replies sync across the browsers where you use your account.
Move them with the CSV template
Typedesk isn't on the importer's list. Copy your replies into the CSV template (My account → Backup → Import from another app → CSV file) and upload them all at once. You'll see a preview before saving. How to do it.
Bring your help desk macros too
If your team has macros in Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk or Gorgias, import them from the same place by choosing that app.
Turn the gaps into variables
Replace the details that change with variables like {{input:Customer name}} or {{dropdown:Priority|High|Medium|Low}}. For ideas, check out these customer support templates.
