New employee welcome email
A good welcome email eases a new hire's nerves and helps them get off to a great start. Here's what to include, plus templates.
The days before starting a new job are usually full of questions: what time to arrive, who to ask, what they'll do on day one. A clear welcome email answers all of that before they have to ask.
Here's what to include and four templates for the different moments of onboarding.
What to include in the welcome email
- The day, time and place to arrive (or the link, if remote).
- The first-day plan, in three or four points.
- Who to contact: their manager and, if there is one, their onboarding buddy.
- What to bring or prepare: documents, bank details, etc.
- A warm tone: show that the team is looking forward to meeting them.
