Replies to positive reviews: examples to copy
A great review deserves more than a quick “Thanks!”. Here are twelve replies ready to adapt, plus tips so each one sounds like you.
When a customer takes the time to write something kind about your business, replying is the natural way to return the favor. And people comparing options read those replies too: they see real people who care about their customers.
The catch is that when reviews pile up, it's easy to end up pasting the same “Thanks so much for your review!” everywhere. Here are simple tips, what the main platforms ask for and twelve examples for different situations.
How to reply well to a positive review
- Use the person's name and mention something specific they wrote: the dish, the room, the person who helped them.
- Keep it short. Two or three sentences are enough. Long replies are harder to read and feel less sincere.
- Say thank you like you mean it, without stock phrases like “we appreciate your feedback”.
- Invite them back, but skip discounts and promotions: whoever reviewed you is already a customer.
- Don't paste the same reply everywhere. Start from a base and always change a detail.
- Sign with a name, yours or whoever is replying. It shows there's a person behind the business.
What the main platforms ask for
| Platform | Good to know |
|---|---|
| Google (Business Profile) | The reviewer is notified when you reply. Google recommends short replies, not sending the same “thank you” to everyone and not offering deals or promotions in your reply. |
| Trustpilot | You can reply once you've claimed your profile. Replies should be polite and professional, with no personal information. |
| App Store | Apple recommends concise, personalized replies without marketing language. The user is notified and can update their review. |
| Google Play | Google's developer documentation sets a maximum of 350 characters per reply. |
| Booking.com | You can reply to reviews that have a title or a comment, in the review's language or in English. It asks for personal, short and original replies, and its content guidelines, which also apply to replies, don't allow advertising or personal information. |

How not to post the same reply every time
Using a template is fine, but if someone reads ten identical replies in a row, your “thank you” loses its value. The trick is to keep a base and change what matters: the name and the specific detail from each review.
With NexoPad you can go a step further. With the variable {{random:We're so glad|How lovely|This made our day}}, one of those phrases is picked at random every time you use the shortcut. And if you'd rather keep completely different replies, one shortcut can hold several variants (up to 8 on the Pro plan) in Random mode, which never repeats the one you used last. You'll find every option in the variables guide.
Reply in seconds with a shortcut
Save your base reply with a shortcut like /goodreview and variables for the name, what the customer highlighted and a dropdown with a few different closings. When you type the shortcut in the platform's reply box, NexoPad asks for those details and writes the full reply.
That way every reply carries its own personal detail, but it only takes seconds to write. If you also want more reviews or need to answer bad ones, we have guides to ask customers for reviews and to reply to negative reviews.
FAQ
Do I have to reply to every positive review?
It isn't required. Google suggests replying when you can add something and not sending the same “thank you” to everyone. If you can't reply to all of them, prioritize reviews with a comment and those that mention something specific.
Can I offer a discount in my reply?
Better not. Google recommends not including deals or promotions in replies, and Booking.com's guidelines don't allow promotional content. Invite them back with a friendly line instead.
What if the review is good but has a complaint?
Thank them for the positive part, acknowledge the issue without making excuses and say what you'll do. If the complaint is serious, follow the steps in our guide to replying to negative reviews.
Are NexoPad's variables free?
NexoPad has a free plan with basic snippet use. Variables like {{input}} and {{random}} are part of the Pro plan, which you can try free for 7 days.
