Scrolling capture
A page, a chat or a document longer than your screen, in a single image.

With the scrolling capture in NexoPad for Windows you pick an area and scroll down through it: NexoPad keeps taking shots and joins them into one long image. It's handy for saving a whole conversation, a full web page or a long invoice.
When you finish, the image opens in the screenshot editor: you can mark it up, hide details, beautify it, copy it or save it like any other screenshot.
1How to start
From a screenshot
Press Alt + 2 and choose Scrolling in the bar at the top, next to Area, Window and Screen.
From the icon by the clock
Right-click the NexoPad icon next to the clock and click the Scroll card.
2Step by step
Mark the part that moves
Drag a box over what you want to scroll, for example just the chat conversation, without the menu next to it. You can also click a window to capture all of it.
Scroll down
A blue frame appears with a small bar: “Scroll down with the mouse wheel”. Scroll down with the wheel at a calm pace; NexoPad joins the shots and tells you how far it has got (“1,200 px · keep scrolling”).
- Auto scroll: NexoPad scrolls for you, step by step. Stop halts it.
- Cancel (
Esc): exits without saving anything.
Finish
Click Done. The long image opens in the screenshot editor, ready to mark up, copy or save.
3Messages in the small bar
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| “Scroll more slowly: that part was not joined” | You scrolled too fast and a part couldn't be joined. Scroll up a little and come back down more slowly, or use Auto scroll. |
| “You reached the end” | The page doesn't scroll any further. Click Done. |
| “You reached the maximum length” | The image hit the 20,000 px limit and stops on its own. Click Done. |
4Tips for a good result
- Mark only the part that moves. Fixed headers and bars are detected and appear only once, but a side menu that doesn't move inside the box adds nothing.
- Scroll at a calm pace or use Auto scroll, which scrolls at a steady pace and gives the page time between shots.
- Pages with animations: if something appears with an effect as you scroll, Auto scroll gives it time to finish. If a part isn't joined, NexoPad scrolls up a little and tries again.
- Down only: the capture doesn't scroll the page sideways.
Important
Auto scroll turns the mouse wheel in the window you are capturing. Some programs don't accept that automatic wheel: if it doesn't scroll, scroll yourself with the wheel and it works just the same.
5FAQ
Does it work in any program?
It works in anything you scroll with the mouse wheel: browsers, chats like WhatsApp or Teams, email, Word documents and PDFs.
How long can the image be?
Up to 20,000 pixels tall. When it gets there, the capture stops on its own.
Is the image uploaded anywhere?
No. The shots are joined on your PC and the image stays there, like the rest of your screenshots.
The image has a repeated or cut-off part. What do I do?
Capture it again, marking only the part that moves and scrolling more slowly, or use Auto scroll.
Don't have NexoPad for Windows yet?
It is free on the Microsoft Store. Install it and capture your first full page.
